Welcome

Hello and welcome to jtbutler.net (J.T.'s Place). I am J. T. Butler, a singer and guitarist. I love the blues and all of its offspring (jazz, rhythm n' blues, rock n' roll).   If you found this page you are probably a fan of one of these styles also.   I started this page to promote myself and my band (The Horizon Blues Band) in Bakersfield, Ca.    I am the vice-president of the Kern River Blues Society, and a member of the Harpheads Harmonica Workshop.    I am also a member of the Board of Directors of the Bakersfield Jazz Workshop and I occasionally sing there.    Cruise through these pages and you will find setlists, some audio files and links, video files and a contact page.  Are you ready to jam? Who I Am

I was born in Texas, and raised in Los Angeles County and I started singing at 7 years old, took piano at 11 and finally learned guitar at 18.  I have played guitar in bands for about 20 years, but I have been a lead vocalist and background singer in clubs, theaters and in church for 40 years. This website, the band, and the music are the culmination of a dream that in retirement I would get to play and sing as much as I wanted. I worked for the State of California for 20 years, but I finally cut them loose a little over six years ago. A full-time job and a family don't leave much time for music. However, thank God I finally have time to do a lot of things I only dreamed of before.
